Wen Reagan
Director of Music and worship
Wen is the director of music and worship at Blacknall, where he helps shepherd the worship life of the congregation, curating and directing what we sing and pray as the body of Christ on Sunday mornings.
Wen is the husband of Casey and dad to Ezra, Pax, and Lovewell. He is a native North Carolinian, born and raised in the Triangle and loves exploring the mountains, coasts, and culture of the Old North State.
Before coming to Blacknall, Wen served as the worship director at St. Peter’s Anglican Church (Birmingham, AL), All Saints Anglican Church (Durham, NC), and Christ Community Church (Chapel Hill, NC). He has also taught and equipped future worship leaders and pastors, most recently at Samford University, where he served as a Visiting Professor of Worship and as Associate Director for the Center for Worship and the Arts. And before that, Wen taught courses in church history and worship at Duke Divinity School. He also occasionally teaches workshops on worship leading, songwriting, and audio production for the church at various conferences.
As a singer/songwriter and producer, Wen has released several of his own albums and contributed several songs to Cardiphonia, a national network of songwriters who write new songs and retune old ones for the benefit of the church. His latest album is Come Pilgrim Rest (2021). Wen also researches and writes on contemporary worship music and occasionally contributes to academic publications and popular publications like Christianity Today.
Wen received his M.T.S. from Duke Divinity School and holds a Ph.D. in Church History from Duke University. Go Blue Devils!
