DITA2025: A Symposium on Theology and the Arts

How can the arts help us open up the very heart of the Christian faith, celebrated at the Council of Nicaea in 325, that Jesus Christ is “one in being” with God? DITA2025 is a four-day symposium at Duke designed for clergy, lay people, artists, academics, and theologians alike. Speakers and artists include Rowan Williams, Sandra McCracken, Chigozie Obioma, Amy Peeler, Malcolm Guite, and more. DITA2025 will be held September 4-7, 2025, but early-bird registration closes on March 15. Register now. Contact Mary Lynn Myers with questions.

Durham CROP Hunger Walk 2025

The Durham 2025 CROP Hunger Walk is coming up on Sunday, March 23, at Duke Chapel. No one in this world should be hungry. That's why the CROP Hunger Walk is our chance to help families who are struggling with hunger and concerned about where they'll find their next meal. For more information, to donate, or if you'd like to walk and raise funds, please contact Doug Koenig.

Service Opportunities for Lent

Blacknall's Durham Ministry Engagement Team (DMET) has compiled several service opportunities related to Blacknall’s local ministry partners to consider during Lent. Some of these activities can be done at home with children, in small groups, or with youth groups. Browse the full list of ideas or contact Vangie Lunn for more details.

Blacknall Women in Healthcare

Women in healthcare professions often face unique challenges. Providing skilled care with compassion while managing demanding hours requires significant emotional labor and often leads to spiritual stress. There are also many rewarding and fulfilling experiences and lessons learned that can be shared. We warmly invite women in all areas of healthcare to join us for fellowship and conversations, to share wisdom, triumphs, and challenges.

Giving Through Our Angel Tree

One of our special Advent traditions is blessing Durham families who are unable to provide for their loved ones at Christmas. When you visit our Virtual Angel Tree, you can select “giving opportunities” of gift cards or gift items. This is a great way for Blacknall families, small groups, or individuals to share the joy of this Advent season with families in need at Christmas.

Caring for our Neighbors in Western North Carolina

Our brothers and sisters in Western North Carolina who are rebuilding from the devastation of Hurricane Helene need our help. As a result, our elders invite us as a congregation to give a Special Mission Offering above and beyond our regular gifts to Blacknall. This offering will support the relief efforts of three churches in the region with whom we have deep relationships.
