Thanks to everyone who donated kitchen items, appliances, linens, and more to the International Students, Inc. (ISI) Housewares Giveaway this past weekend, as well as everyone who helped with setup, cleanup, offering rides, and greeting students!
We were able to bless more than 100 newly arrived international students with necessities that will make their transition to Duke and Durham easier and more meaningful, thanks to the care of their new neighbors. Best of all, the event wasn’t just about giving things away. It offered a chance to build connections and offer care to many.
“I expect that never has so much stuff been distributed to people from so many places all around the world in one space,” said Ron Manila, who serves as ISI campus staff with his wife, Betsy. “Students not only received household goods but felt welcomed into their new home.”
