The First Letter of John
Many people claim God’s name, but how do we know who to trust? How can we know if we know Christ?
If you’ve ever had these questions, you aren’t the first. The letter of 1 John addresses an early Christian congregation that experienced theological conflict and was figuring out who to trust. At that difficult time, John wrote to remind them of three essentials: the incarnation, obedience, and love. Like a spirograph, 1 John goes around and around, repeating these themes. The result is a complex and beautiful picture of life in Christ.
