Help the Homeless as Temperatures Get Colder

As overnight temperatures dip below freezing this month and throughout the winter, you can help Durham families in need of shelter. Deep Common Journey partner Families Moving Forward and ministry partner Durham CAN are among several local organizations working with the City of Durham to support “White Flag” shelters, which provide overnight accommodations for people experiencing homelessness when temperatures are at or below 32 degrees, or when temperatures reach 35 degrees with snow or rain.

The city and partner organizations are running a “100 Days of Warmth” campaign, through which you can help by donating money, volunteering to help maintain a shelter, donating supplies for cold-weather kits, and more. Learn more about Durham’s White Flag shelters on the city’s website.
