The Sunday School class schedule for the spring is live. The semester begins Sunday, Jan. 11 with classes taking place at 10 a.m. between Sunday services.
No registration is needed and classes are open to all, including visitors. Adults can join any of these classes at any time, even if you did not attend a prior semester! Here are our adult classes set for the spring:
Christians and the Common Good: Seeking the Flourishing of the City: Consider the scriptural and theological basis of the “common good” and hear from Blacknall folks who seek the common good of Durham and other communities around the world.
Word Alive: Listen to God’s voice through 1 and 2 Timothy. Come each week to discuss main themes and how to apply lessons to our lives and culture.
Martyrs of the Church: Ancient and Modern: Explore the lives of the martyrs of the church and ask what they have to teach us about the church’s ongoing proclamation of the gospel to the world.
The Psalms as a Guide to Life: Find out how some of the most-read and best-loved Psalms can teach us about who God is and how to bring all that we are into the light of God.
Growing in Grace: Meet with current Blacknall members and brothers and sisters from other congregations for an in-depth study of the Bible.
Young Adult Fellowship: Study 1 Samuel and journey through Israel’s transition from judges to kings, Samuel’s emergence as God’s prophet, Saul’s troubled reign, and David’s growth as a budding shepherd-king.
In our youth classes, middler schoolers will focus on “Relationships in New Testament Letters" and high schoolers spend time with minor prophets. We’ll also have a confirmation class this spring for 9th graders and older youth who have not yet been confirmed can learn about and discuss what it means to be a Christian, a Presbyterian, and a member at Blacknall.
Children’s classes for newborns through fifth grade are also available. Our K - 5 Sunday School uses the interactive “DWELL” curriculum.
More information on Sunday School topics and each class location is available on our Sunday School page.
