Blacknall will host journalist Brian Goldstone on Friday, Aug. 14, for an evening exploring homelessness, the loss of the American Dream, and what it means to know and love our neighbors.
Brian’s Pulitzer Prize-winning book, “There Is No Place for Us: Working and Homeless in America,” follows families experiencing homelessness despite working full time, revealing how rising housing costs and economic pressures have reshaped life for five families. Many of us encounter homelessness in Durham, but our understanding of the challenges our neighbors face is often limited.

In a conversation with Pastor Goodie Bell, Brian will discuss his reporting to help us gain a deeper understanding of homelessness: how pervasive it is, the many forms it takes, and the ways we can respond with wisdom and hope. There will also be time for audience Q&A.
This free event is open to the community and runs from 7 - 8:30 p.m., followed by light refreshments and a book signing.
