Men's Retreat Provides Space for 'Vulnerability, Longings, and Dreams'

Dr. Nathan Walton, Co-Lead Pastor at East End Fellowship in Richmond, Virginia, was the guest speaker for the men’s retreat. He led the group in conversation and prayer throughout the weekend on the theme of “Cultivating Habits that Foster Spiritual Maturity and Wholeness.”

After a weekend of bonding in the North Carolina mountains through worship, testimonies, and time spent enjoying God's creation, Tom Robinson wrote this reflection about our annual men's retreat:

“Imagine a weekend at an old mountain retreat: three days with a cloudless sky and a welcome chill in the air. Imagine a skilled speaker, who not only inspired but challenged you with Scripture to find new ways to connect with church, friends, family, and neighbors. Imagine a vigorous hike, a discussion of how music opens one to God, and an hour spent practicing selah, the act of pausing to rest and seek communion with God and those around you. For about 80 Blacknall men this past weekend, this wasn’t imaginary, but a wonderful reality. We may rarely get the time to share our vulnerability, longings, and dreams, but it was easy for us to imagine and then experience being renewed by the Holy Spirit in song, worship, and communion.”
