Our Women’s Ministry will host a summer book club to read “The Cost of Discipleship” by Dietrich Bonhoeffer. Published in 1937, the book by the German theologian uses the outline of the Sermon on the Mount to explore the importance of “costly grace” and faith in action from Bonhoeffer’s perspective as a Lutheran pastor living amid Nazi Germany.
The group will gather on Wednesdays from July 8 - Aug. 12, with no meeting on July 22. Meetings take place from 7 - 8:30 p.m. at Martha Carlough's home in Durham. (Address available in Church Center.) You can find copies of the book at the Blacknall Library, Durham Libraries, online, and local bookstores. A study guide and questions to frame each conversation will be provided.
