Special Election

Kris Barman

I am a retired nurse and have been a member at Blacknall since 2006. Previously, I served two terms as a Deacon and understand the commitment. I have been married to my wonderful husband, Bill, for 56 years and have children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren up and down the East Coast.

I sing in the choir, attend Women’s Bible Study, and coordinate a monthly casserole bake in support of St Joseph's Breakfast Ministry, where I have been a breakfast volunteer for 10 years.

I believe Jesus Christ is my risen Lord and Savior, the son the one true God. He has blessed my life in so many ways I feel the need to share those blessings with others be it our unhoused neighbors, members of Blacknall, or those I haven't yet met. I look forward to serving this partial term as a deacon and continuing to share my blessings.

I have been a member at Blacknall since 2018, attending since 2016. I was first introduced to Blacknall by a dear friend, who I worked with at the time, after sharing with her that I was looking for a church home in Durham. From the moment I stepped through the front door, Blacknall has felt like home.

I moved back to my hometown of Henderson in early 2021 where I own a small boutique and gift shop downtown, Nella Roo’s. I felt strongly that God was calling me back to Henderson during the pandemic and my shop has become a gathering place where I have been able to share my love for Jesus and share of His goodness with my community. I strive to glorify God everyday, though I know that I fall short.

The Blacknall community loves each other so well. We encourage and support one another as we seek a deeper relationship with Jesus. I am honored to be a member of this community and to be considered to serve on the Diaconate.
