Service of Lessons & Carols

Loosely modeled after King’s College's Festival of Lessons & Carols, our modified Service of Lessons & Carols features seven lessons, beginning with the Genesis account of God’s curse for the sin of humankind and His promise of a Savior. The story unfolds with selected prophecies about the coming Messiah, continues with passages detailing the birth of Jesus, and concludes with John’s affirmation of Christ’s deity. After each lesson, the congregation responds to hearing God’s Word — either through singing or through prayerful meditation (often accompanied by song).

Children’s Worship

During Sunday worship, children in pre-K(4) - 2nd grade should sit with their parents in the Sanctuary until they are called forward for the Children’s Blessing. Teachers will then escort children downstairs to their classrooms. Learn more.

World

  • We pray for our brothers and sisters living with uncertainty, fear, and stress due to the presence of ICE in our community.

  • In the ongoing conflict in Israel and Palestine, we pray for the peace and protection for the people of Gaza, for all who are suffering, and for those who have lost loved ones. We give thanks and pray for the fragile ceasefire and for lasting peace in this region.

  • We pray for the Democratic Republic of Congo and for our mission partners in Beni and Bunia, for their safety, and for enduring peace in the entire region.

  • We pray for our president and other world leaders that they would make decisions that are right and that would make for peace and justice.

Life Together

  • We thank God and pray for Faith Weiskirch, our Director of Operations. We pray for wisdom for her as she provides care for the building, especially as we plan for major renovations.

  • We pray for our Officer Nominating Committee as they seek the Lord’s leading on the people to nominate to serve our congregation as elders and deacons. Please pray for Rhett Davis, Bo Harrison, Melissa Hartemink (vice chair), Hannah King, Mary Mathew, Jim Nolen, Cullen Rodgers-Gates (chair), and Rachel Stine (Deacon rep), along with Goodie Bell and David Dunderdale (Pastors, ex officio).
