Women in Healthcare — Session on Suffering and Lament

Blacknall’s Women in Healthcare group will host an interactive session on Wednesday, Oct. 22, to explore themes of suffering and lament. The event will be led by Dr. Martha Carlough, director of spiritual formation for the Theology, Medicine, and Culture Initiative and consulting faculty at Duke Divinity School. The group will meet from 7 - 8:30 p.m. in north Durham.

These gatherings offer the chance to meet others at Blacknall looking to better connect their work in healthcare and Christian faith. All Blacknall women in medical professions are invited to join the group and RSVP and see location information.

Our interactive session will offer space to reflect on how Scripture and the church have understood and responded to suffering, and how personal encounters with loss shape the way medical professionals practice healthcare. The group will also share how prayers of lament can be a tool for connecting with God in seasons of suffering and loss.
