Durham Pilgrimage of Pain and Hope

DurhamCares, a Blacknall ministry partner, will host the Durham Pilgrimage of Pain and Hope Oct. 17- 19. The event takes participants on a walking tour that features stops at historical and cultural places that are pivotal to Durham’s history. The tour meets three times: Friday evening (Oct. 17) and all-day Saturday and Sunday (Oct. 18 and 19). Meals are included.

During the tour, community leaders and volunteers will share the stories of neighborhoods, businesses, and people like Pauli Murray who helped shape Durham into what it is today. This is an opportunity to connect Durham’s story, your own story, and God’s story through the challenges and changes of our city. You can see a sample itinerary on the event’s website.

Register by Oct. 1 to join. The cost is $200 per person with a non-refundable $50 deposit. This price covers all meals, admission fees, speakers, and more. DurhamCares will provide a full scholarship for anyone in need — a request can be made when registering. Email Reynolds Chapman with any questions.
