This is an ever-evolving situation and we will do our best to keep the below information current.
As of 1/14/2020, NC Department of Health HS has approved COVID vaccine administration for both Group 1 (health care workers and long term care staff and residents) AND Group 2 (older adults > 65 years old) - view here. Vaccine appointment slots are expanding and there are various options through both local health departments, UNC and Duke but it may take a little patience. The vaccine is free to everyone who wants it.

Options for vaccine access are all listed on the state health department website and this information will likely change as more distribution sites are available in the coming weeks.
UNC-Chapel Hill | View Here
Go to the bottom of the website and the blue bar to "schedule my vaccine." You can do it online if you have a UNC medical record number (it takes you to “Mychart”) or call the number listed (984) 215-5485. You do not need to be a UNC patient. There are currently 5-6 administration centers including The Friday Center in Chapel Hill.
Duke | View Here
Duke's system is also accepting anyone over 65 years of age, and adding people to the waiting list as there is limited supply. You will be called back or notified by MyChart when appointments are available.
Eligible Duke patients can go straight into their MyChart / Schedule an Appointment / COVID VACCINATION. You click on that and answer a few questions. You can then choose one of 4 or 5 places that you'd like to get the vaccine. If there are appointments available, you can schedule online right then.
Duke COVID hotline 919-385-0429 can take you to the vaccination appointment center. Option 2 then Option 1 after you choose English vs Spanish. You don't have to be a Duke patient. It's open 8am to 8pm Monday through Sunday. You may experience a long wait time so be prepared for this.
