Due to the Coronavirus, the Gathering is postponed until Oct. 20-22, 2020.

By Anne Paulson

As Allan Poole wrote in the last newsletter, Blacknall has been chosen to be the host site of the 2020 version of The Gathering, sponsored by The Fellowship Community. Over 200 pastors and elders and leaders will be spending April 28-30 at our church, seeking to be encouraged, instructed and led in worship for these three days set aside for renewal. These leaders hope to be more fully equipped to serve their various churches within the PCUSA through The Gathering.

The theme of this year’s Gathering is Real Church, which is one reason Blacknall was chosen. Real churches have some limitations that have to be overcome, such as limited space, limited parking, limited resources…BUT, real churches also have one huge advantage. We have an amazing resource of people who more than make up for any limitations. Previous Gatherings have been held in mega-like churches, which know no limits. We will have a great stage in April to show how a Real Church works!

Several teams have been established to do the work needed for The Gathering: Facility team led by Mark Paulson, host team led by Traci Hoover and Ann Talton-Lee, meal team (non-cooking) led by Noreen Naiman, hospitality team led by Carmen Nashland, transportation team led by Mark Paulson and a clean up team, needing a leader. Anne Paulson will serve as coordinator for the various teams.

As you can see, there will be many ways to help make the 2020 Gathering a welcoming place. We hope that you will find a place to serve that fits with your schedule; don’t wait to be asked…find your place and make a call to a team leader.  Write Sunday, April 26, down in your book as the afternoon we transform our church into the new home of The Gathering…many hands will be needed for this transformation!
