  • NC COVID-19 Helpline: 1-866-462-3821

  • 2-1-1 (by United Way of North Carolina) is available for people to call for assistance related to the COVID-19 coronavirus. Dial 211 on your phone to reach this resource.

  • COVID-19 text information and updates are available. To sign up, text COVIDNC to 898211.

  • North Carolina Emergency Management established a hotline for questions related to FEMA public assistance. Applicants may dial by phone at 919-825-2548 or by email pahotline@ncem.org.

  • Families that rely on free and reduced-price meals can text FOODNC to 877-877 to get information about location and serving times for nearby pick-up and drive-thru free meal sites while schools are closed. The service is available in Spanish by texting COMIDA to 877-877.

  • An interactive map of local school sites, and food assistance programs is available at www.nokidhungrync.org/covid19/

The City of Durham Eviction Diversion Program
A partnership between Legal Aid of North Carolina and the Duke Civil Justice Clinic to provide legal representation to low-wealth and low-income residents and families who are facing eviction. Please contact us as soon as you receive a notice of lease termination or court papers for an eviction. The sooner you contact us, the more likely we’ll  be able to help keep you in your home. To apply for legal assistance with eviction, please contact Legal Aid of North Carolina (866-219-52-62) or, locally, Robbie Breitweiser at Legal Aid of North Carolina (919-688-6396 ext. 4540).

Lost health insurance because of the Coronavirus? 
UNC Family Medicine can connect you to resources that may help. Because so many businesses are having to suspend services due to COVID-19, many people find themselves out of a job and potentially losing their health insurance.  It is important for you to know that you may qualify for a special enrollment period on the health insurance marketplace. www.healthcare.gov. But hurry, you only have 60 days from the time you lose your job to take advantage of this special period. Call toll-free 1-855-733-3711 to speak with someone to see if you qualify. Calls are returned  as soon as possible but at least within a business day. Because of the  high call volume, you may be asked to leave your name and number. You may also call 919-545-3440 to speak to someone at Family Medicine if you have questions.
