Invocation
By Your Holy Spirit, Lord, help us worship:
Give us ears to hear You; Give us eyes to see You; Open our hearts to love You.
Do this for Your glory, for our good and for the life of the world. We ask in Jesus’ name.
Song | “We Would See Jesus”
We would see Jesus,
We would see the Lamb of God!
We long to see Your face,
For You are the great I Am!
You are holy,
You are love,
You are life to me,
Flowing down from heaven above.
You are my Shepherd,
In Your care I rest.
You I will worship,
Towards You, Lord, my soul doth press.
Scripture Reading | Psalm 32
Blessed is the one
whose transgressions are forgiven,
whose sins are covered.
Blessed is the one
whose sin the Lord does not count against them
and in whose spirit is no deceit.
When I kept silent,
my bones wasted away
through my groaning all day long.
For day and night
your hand was heavy on me;
my strength was sapped
as in the heat of summer.
Then I acknowledged my sin to you
and did not cover up my iniquity.
I said, “I will confess
my transgressions to the Lord.”
And you forgave
the guilt of my sin.
Therefore let all the faithful pray to you
while you may be found;
surely the rising of the mighty waters
will not reach them.
You are my hiding place;
you will protect me from trouble
and surround me with songs of deliverance.
I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.
Do not be like the horse or the mule,
which have no understanding
but must be controlled by bit and bridle
or they will not come to you.
Many are the woes of the wicked,
but the Lord’s unfailing love
surrounds the one who trusts in him.
Rejoice in the Lord and be glad, you righteous;
sing, all you who are upright in heart!
Song | “Across the Lands”
You’re the Word of God the Father,
from before the world began;
Ev’ry star and ev’ry planet
has been fashioned by Your hand.
All creation holds together
by the power of Your voice:
Let the skies declare Your glory,
let the land and seas rejoice!
You’re the Author of creation,
You’re the Lord of ev’ry man;
And Your cry of love rings out across the lands.
Yet You left the gaze of angels,
came to seek and save the lost,
and exchanged the joy of heaven
for the anguish of a cross.
With a prayer You fed the hungry,
with a word You stilled the sea.
Yet how silently You suffered
that the guilty may go free.
With a shout You rose victorious,
wresting vict’ry from the grave,
and ascended into heaven
leading captives in Your wake.
Now You stand before the Father
interceding for Your own.
From each tribe and tongue and nation
You are leading sinners home.

Call to Confession
“Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered.Blessed is the one whose sin the Lord does not count against them and in whose spirit is no deceit. (Ps. 32:1-2) Because of the death and resurrection of Jesus, we are these blessed ones. With this confidence, let us confess our sins.
Prayer of Confession
Gracious God, our sins are too heavy to carry, too real to hide, and too deep to undo. Forgive what our lips tremble to name, what our hearts can no longer bear, and what has become for us a consuming fire of judgment. Set us free from a past that we cannot change; open to us a future in which we can be changed; and grant us grace to grow more and more in your likeness and image, through Jesus Christ, the light of the world. Amen.
Assurance of Pardon
Friends, it is true: In Jesus Christ we are forgiven.
Passing the Peace
May the peace of the Lord be with you.
Response: And also with you
Affirmation of Faith | Apostles Creed
We believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sits on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. We believe in the Holy Spirit; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

Proclamation of the Word | Pastor Allan Poole
The Lord’s Prayer: Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
Song of Response | “This Is My Father’s World”
This is my Father’s world,
And to my listening ears,
All nature sings, and round me rings
The music of the spheres.
This is my Father’s world:
I rest me in the thought
Of rocks and trees, of skies and seas;
His hand the wonders wrought.
This is my Father’s world; with the eyes of faith I see
The Lord who bled, now alive, not dead;
The Lamb of God, ‘tis He!
This is my Father’s world! May His voice I clearly hear;
In the midst of strife, throughout my life,
He bids me, “Do not fear.”
This is my Father’s world:
Oh, let me ne’er forget
That though the wrong seems oft so strong,
God is the Ruler yet.
This is my Father’s world: why should my heart be sad?
The Lord is King; let the heavens ring!
God reigns; let the earth be glad!
Words by Maltbie Babcock, 1901 (v1 and 3) and Dave Stuntz, 2017 (v2).
Traditional English melody.

The Lord’s unfailing love surrounds the one who trusts in him (Ps. 32:10).
We praise you, Lord, for your unfailing love.
You know the darkness of our hearts and the depth of our sorrow;
the cross of Christ assures us that is true.
You know, and yet You love us.
You know, and You release us. You forgive our sins.
Teach us what it means to be forgiven--by God and by one another.
Teach us what it means to forgive.
Lord, call to mind that person or people with whom we are angry or bitter.
Perhaps we are so accustomed to holding grudges that we don’t even notice; help us, Lord.
By Your Holy Spirit move us towards forgiveness in Jesus’ name.
May Your forgiveness set us free to be agents of peace, especially in our families and in our city.
Hear us as we pray...
For our civic leaders, that they would use their authority to safeguard the well-being and dignity of all. Lord, have mercy.
For those who are sick and alone (especially ________), may they know your healing, comfort and care. Lord, have mercy.
For those who provide care (especially ________), give them strength, courage, and rest. Lord, have mercy.
For those who are grieving (especially ________), may they lament and receive hope because of you. Lord, have mercy.
For the church, that our willingness to love others as neighbors would witness to your love and power in us. Lord, have mercy.
Let us pray as Jesus taught us: Our Father...
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name.
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors;
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever.
Amen.
Benediction
Song | “He Who Watches Over You”
He who watches over you
Will never slumber nor sleep;
He who watches over you
Will never slumber nor sleep.
O My child, lay your burdens down,
Lay them at My feet.
He who watches over you
Will never slumber nor sleep.
