“The Lamb Has Overcome”

The Lamb has overcome
The Lamb has overcome
The battle's done and the victory is won
For the Lamb has overcome

No grave could hold him down
No grave could hold him down
Up from the ground, “He is risen!” was the sound
No grave could hold him down

Worthy is the Lamb who was slain!
Glory be unto his name!
Worthy is the Lamb who was slain!
Glory be unto his name!

The table now is spread
The table now is spread
This wine and bread
Broken body and blood shed
The table now is spread

Invocation

Lord Jesus, we remember that after your resurrection you appeared to your disciples and you shared a meal with them.  We remember on the shore of the lake in Galilee that you prepared a breakfast for them.  We long for the Feast that you have prepared for us.  Risen and Conquering Son, feed us again with your Word and with your Spirit as we worship you.  Amen.

Responsive Scripture Reading | Hosea 6:1-6

Leader:
“Come, let us return to the Lord.
 He has torn us to pieces
     but he will heal us;
 he has injured us
     but he will bind up our wounds.

People:
2 After two days he will revive us;
     on the third day he will restore us,
     that we may live in his presence.

Leader:
3 Let us know the Lord;
     let us press on to know him.
 As surely as the sun rises,
     he will appear;
 he will come to us like the winter rains,
     like the spring rains that water the earth.”

People:
4 “What can I do with you, Ephraim?
     What can I do with you, Judah?
 Your love is like the morning mist,
     like the early dew that disappears.

Leader:
5 Therefore I cut you in pieces with my prophets,
     I killed you with the words of my mouth—
     then my judgments go forth like the sun.

People:
6 For I desire mercy, not sacrifice,
     and knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings.”

Call to Confession

Beloved, “Come, let us return to the Lord.”  All we like sheep have gone astray.  We are prone to wander.  What dark path have you wandered down this week?  What foolishness have you given yourself to this week?  This morning?  Come, let us kneel in confession before the Lord that he might heal us and bind up our wounds.

Prayer of Confession

Lord, through the prophet we hear your exasperation, “What can I do with you?”  We confess that your exasperation makes sense to us.  We admit that our love “is like the morning mist, like the early dew that disappears.”  We so easily forget who you are.  It is amazing how quickly we can be drawn away from following you to go after our own idols that promise significance and security and belonging but never satisfy. Lord, in your mercy forgive us.  By your Spirit, enable us to press on to know you so that, knowing you and your mercy, we might be a people of mercy.  In Christ’s name we pray, Amen.

Assurance of Pardon

Friends, Easter reminds us indeed that after two days the Lord did revive us and on the third day he did restore us, that we might live in his presence.  The resurrection of Jesus Christ proves to us that we are restored.  In Jesus Christ we are forgiven.

Passing the Peace

May the peace of the Lord be with you.
Response: And also with you

Song | Worship Band
“Agnus Dei”

Lamb of God you take away the sins of the world
Have mercy on us
Lamb of God you take away the sins of the world
Have mercy on us
Lamb of God you take away the sins of the world
Grant us your peace
Grant us your peace

Affirmation of Faith | Apostles Creed

We believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sits on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. We believe in the Holy Spirit; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

Proclamation of the Word | Pastor Goodie Bell

Mark 2:13-17

13 Once again Jesus went out beside the lake. A large crowd came to him,and he began to teach them. 14 As he walked along, he saw Levi son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax collector’s booth. “Follow me,” Jesus told him, and Levi got up and followed him.

15 While Jesus was having dinner at Levi’s house, many tax collectors and sinners were eating with him and his disciples, for there were many who followed him. 16 When the teachers of the law who were Pharisees saw him eating with the sinners and tax collectors, they asked his disciples: “Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?”

17 On hearing this, Jesus said to them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

Communion

“At the Lamb’s High Feast We Sing”

At the Lamb's high feast we sing
Praise to our victorious King,
Who hath washed us in the tide
Flowing from his pierced side;
Praise we him whose love divine
Gives his sacred blood for wine,
Gives his body for the feast,
Christ the Victim, Christ the Priest.

Mighty Victim from the sky,
Pow'rs of hell beneath thee lie;
Death is conquered in the fight,
Thou hast brought us life and light:
Hymns of glory and of praise,
Risen Lord, to thee we raise;
Holy Father, praise to thee,
With the Spirit, ever be.

Prayers of Thanksgiving & Intercession

Would you like to share a prayer request? Submit your request here.

(As you pray the following petitions, you are encouraged to pause and lift to the Lord particular concerns or people or events. Read prayer requests from Blacknall members and ministry partners here.)

Lord, we give you thanks for your gracious invitation to us to share in your banquet feast.  We give thanks for the ways in which you made known to us not only this invitation but also the desire of your heart that we would be with you.

Lord, we pray that we might be your Body, extending your invitation to those around us.  May our lives and our life together communicate your grace and mercy.  We pray that our neighbors, friends, and family members would know that every sinner is welcome at your Table.  May people not see in us great religiosity but might they see sinners who have experienced your transforming mercy and love.  We pray for particular ones dear to us by name...

Lord, we can be harsh in our condemnation and judgment.  We can quickly judge a person as beyond help or hope.  We make instantaneous conclusions about who people are.  Open our eyes to see people rightly, to see people with your eyes.  Give us your heart of compassion for the people around us.

Father, fill our hearts with a desire for your heavenly feast.  Increase our longing for that day.  And increase in us a longing for your Table to be full with those who do not know you yet.  Until that day we pray, Our Father...

The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name.
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors;
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever.
Amen.

“In Christ Alone”

In Christ alone my hope is found
He is my light my strength my song
This Cornerstone this solid Ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love what depths of peace
When fears are stilled when strivings cease
My Comforter my All in All
Here in the love of Christ I stand

In Christ alone who took on flesh
Fullness of God in helpless babe
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones He came to save
When on the cross as Jesus died
“Forgive them Father,” our Lord cried
He faced our sin, and broke its hold
Here in the death of Christ I live

There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious Day
Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me
For I am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ

No guilt in life no fear in death
This is the power of Christ in me
From life's first cry to final breath
Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell no scheme of man
Can ever pluck me from His hand
Till He returns or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ I'll stand

Benediction

Song | Worship Band & Congregation
“Alleluia”

Alleluia, alleluia!
Alleluia, alleluia!

Father we praise you as Lord
All of the earth gives you worship
For your majesty
Fills the heavens, fills the earth!

Give thanks to the Lord, he is good,
The love of the Lord knows no ending.
Heirs of Israel,
say: “His love has no end.”
