Our Women’s Ministry will hold a plant exchange this Saturday, Sept. 19, from 2 - 4 p.m. at Bethany Bonnemere’s home in Durham. (See Church Center for address.) Bring any seeds, plants you're rehoming, or a snack to share. If you're a total beginner with nothing to bring, come anyway! We'll help you start a collection.
Fall is a great time to divide plants that bloom in the spring and summer. Bulbs, perennials, and grasses take well to fall, and the cool weather means they can focus on roots instead of trying to support new growth. If you're dividing plants, here's what helps:
Water heavily the day before to avoid shocking the plant.
Strip off extra leaves so the plant puts energy into roots, not foliage.
Mulch generously around freshly divided plants.
Email Becky Gould with questions.
