On Monday, October 30, the Blacknall Session invites the congregation to join together for a Day of Fasting & Prayer. Regardless of whether you are able to fast, all are encouraged to attend the time of worship and prayer that evening from 7:30 - 8:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary.
In her sermon on October 15, Kat Burgett defined fasting in this way, "Fasting is temporarily giving up one of God's good gifts, usually food, to aid with prayer in times of particular urgency."
On that day and evening we will focus our prayers on three particular areas:
The violence and conflicts in Israel and Palestine, Ukraine and Russia, and many other areas across the world;
The continued search for our next Senior Pastor; and
The personal illness and grief among the members of our congregation.
If you are able, please consider fasting on October 30 to acknowledge our dependence on God, then present your requests to our Father with prayers and petitions, with thanksgiving (Phil 4:6).
