The Mt. Level Community Partnership for Racial Justice presents a community-wide program focusing on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr’s “Letter from a Birmingham Jail” on Saturday, April 2, 2022 from 10 am – 12 pm. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr’s LETTER FROM BIRMINGHAM JAIL resounds as an offering of lament and hope. Our purpose is to carry that message of lament and hope into our world as it relates to us all today and tomorrow.
The program will include an interview with Dr. King’s lawyer while jailed in Birmingham and a reading of this famous letter by young adults from various local churches and schools, including Mt. Level Missionary Baptist, Blacknall Presbyterian, Epworth United Methodist Church, and Broughton High School. The program will conclude with a brief summarization of the interview and King’s letter, offering hope during this season of Lent, and together in Beloved Community.
