Are you prepared to bring the heat? Join us on Sunday, October 8, for Blacknall’s 17th Annual Festival of the Bean! This chili-lovers’ event and competition will take place from 2:30 - 6 p.m. at Forest Hills Park in Durham.

SCHEDULE
2:30 p.m. | Festival begins, contestants check in their chilis
3:00 p.m. | Cut-off time for entering the chili contest
3:15 – 3:45 p.m. | Judging of the chili
4:00 – 5:30 p.m. | Dinner and s’mores
5:15 p.m. | Winner announced and declared Lord or Lady of the Bean
5:30 p.m. | Clean up

If you plan to compete in the chili competition (and we hope you do!), please bring your chili in a crockpot with a ladle for serving, plus any condiments specific to your chili. Make sure to give your chili a fantastic name, although the name should not reveal the cook. Also, please indicate if your chili is extra spicy or caters to dietary needs (i.e. , vegetarian, gluten-free, etc.).
If you are not bringing chili, please consider bringing cornbread or some other side dish to share. Everyone is encouraged to bring a water bottle and/or extra drinks for their family.
