Why do the arts matter? In his latest volume of research, “Abundantly More”, Dr. Jeremy Begbie argues that in our reductionist culture that wants to flatten our view of the world, the arts are needed as never before. The arts show us that there is always more to our lives than we can ever think or say, and they can even push us to question whether this world is all there is. Above all, they can open a vision of the world as upheld by a God of infinite abundance, the triune God of Jesus Christ.
On Friday, September 8, 2023, DITA is delighted to host Beyond Measure: An Evening of Music in Celebration of “Abundantly More.” Featuring players from the New Caritas Orchestra directed by Dr. Jeremy Begbie, the program will explore the power of music—along words and images—to expand our theological imagination. The repertoire will be wide and diverse. From classical to contemporary, poetry to paintings, violas to timpani, the evening will invite us to experience God’s extravagance in fresh and compelling ways.
We hope you will join us as we celebrate the arts distinctive power to capture the superabundant life of Christ and the love of God that is beyond measure. 7:30 p.m. in Goodson Chapel. The concert will last approximately an hour with a book signing and reception to follow. No tickets necessary.
