Which ingredients will you unleash to dominate the competition and become the next Lord of Lady of the Bean? Please join us after church on October 16 for Blacknall’s 16th Annual Festival of the Bean! This chili-lovers’ event will take place from 2:30 -6:00 p.m. at Forest Hills Park in Durham.

2:30 p.m. | Festival begins, check in chili for competition
3:00 p.m. | Cut-off time for entering chili for the judging
3:15 – 3:45 p.m. | Chili tasting & judging
4:00 – 5:30 p.m. | Dinner & s’mores
5:15 p.m. | Announcement of the winning chili
5:30 p.m. | Clean up
DETAILS
If you plan to enter your chili for competition (and we hope you do!), please bring it in a crockpot along with a ladle for serving and any condiments specific to your chili. Be sure to give your chili a fantastic name, although names should not indicate who prepared it. Also, please indicate if your chili is extra spicy or caters to dietary needs (ie. vegetarian, gluten-free, etc.)
The winner will be declared Lord or Lady of the Bean.
If you are not bringing chili, please consider bringing cornbread or some other side dish to share.
