Prayer

Ministry Partners:

  • Campus—We pray for Steve Edwards working with international students from South Asia at NC State University.  Pray for one student from India who took a copy of Corrie ten Boom’s book, The Hiding Place, intrigued by this idea of Christian forgiveness.  Pray for a couple Persian students who are keenly interested in hearing more about the gospel.  Pray for creative opportunities to love students and to open the Bible together in this season of COVID.  Pray for his writing project of a Bible study guide built around the last 24 hours of Jesus’ life, framed particularly for South Asian students.

  • International—Please pray for Blacknall missionaries Fraser and Liz Bennett. Fraser has started managing a new project. SIL LEAD is working as part of a team of agencies to teach thousands of children who have never been in school because of war and insecurity in their country. His team’s part is to make sure that the teaching happens in a dialect that the children can understand. Items for prayer: (1) a resolution of problems besetting Fraser’s literacy project in an unstable African country; (2) a proliferation of good books to promote literacy and Biblical knowledge among new literates; (3) strength and guidance in developing new literacy projects; (4) thanksgiving for the psycho-social and spiritual growth which their son, Isaac, experienced while living on a Christian ranch.

  • Durham—We pray for our sister church, Iglesia Emanuel, and her pastor,  Julio Ramirez-Eve.  Pray for the Food Bank that feeds over 400 families each Wednesday.  Thank God for the volunteers from within Emanuel and from other churches including Blacknall who make this happen each week.

Thank God for an adequate supply of food that has been provided each week. Pray for the ongoing growth and discipleship of this young congregation and for Pastor Julio and Ellen Van Tongeren who provide teaching and preaching.  Pray for Guillermo who leads the active music ministry with people of all ages and who provides leadership for many of the volunteers.  Thank God that Guillermo and his wife have both recovered from COVID.  Pray for wisdom as they seek to resume their active ministry with children in the church and in the community.
