Prayer for the Stuntz Family

Please pray for Dave and Ann Stuntz in the loss of their 39-year-old son, Jim, in an accidental death on April 18. Read more about Jim in his obituary here. Many of you have inquired as to how you can support the family. We invite you to provide gift cards to Whole Foods, and suggest that you mail them with a card or personal note. These would be most welcome.

Women’s Storytelling Event

“The Betty: Keeping Christ in the Story”
Thursday, April 19, 7:30-9 p.m. | Fellowship Hall

An evening of live storytelling, sharing, and response, as several Blacknall women tell personal stories around faith and courage in the workplace. The prompt is, “I laugh about it now…” Questions? Contact Keri Linares. Part funny, part serious, Spirit-filled, but accessible to all.

Why “The Betty”? Betty is a classic nickname for Elizabeth, that lovely, receptive older woman in Luke 1:39-56, who recognized her place in God’s story.  She was old enough to be Mary’s grandmother, but she had this warm, funny cross-generational friendship with a Mary, a teenager.  They were allies- Elizabeth, “Betty,” immediately believed and validated Mary’s out-of-wedlock pregnancy.  They recognized the Lord together in their miraculous and odd circumstances.  They were a refuge/consolation/encouragement for each other.  They sang and were song-writers.  They praised God together. Likewise, The Betty, a series of storytelling evenings at Blacknall, will encourage cross-generational friendships through the sharing of our divine encounters with Christ. Stay tuned for more opportunities in the coming months to share your stories and hear from others.
