Less than a month to go before Women’s Bible Study kicks off the fall semester! Our community meets each Thursday morning from 9:30-11:30 a.m. for a time of fellowship, worship, teaching, small group discussion and prayer. The fall semester begins on Thursday, September 15 and ends with a delicious brunch on December 1. The curriculum, Open Your Bible by Amanda B. Williams and Raechel Myers, is a Scripture study using Old and New Testament passages. It offers a refreshing approach to study and small group discussion as we interact with Scripture. After a short break, we will continue our study by examining the Gospel of John in the spring semester. The cost for the semester is $20, collected at our first meeting. Childcare is provided.

Playgroup photoThursdays in August (4, 11, 18, & 25)

Join us in the Blacknall nursery from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Karen Strubel, Ph.D., will join us for conversations about child development and parenting. Karen is a clinical psychologist whose specialties include play therapy, parent coaching, attachment formation and repair. She holds an M.A. in theology and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Fuller Theological Seminary. The Blacknall Library will be open these mornings, so drop by and check out a book or two for the Mission Builders summer reading program. We hope many will join us for these fun playgroup mornings!

Art Workshop

Wednesday, June 22, 7-9 p.m. | Fellowship Hall.

Let’s gather for some creative fun and fellowship with Durham artist  Eleatta Diver, who teaches and leads art parties around town. No prior art skill is necessary! Each participant will be given an 11×14 canvas. After reflecting on meaningful scriptures, participants will be guided as they learn simple ways of creating artful text using pencils, Sharpies and paint. Eleatta will demonstrate a beautiful method of adding subtle color and texture within the letters’ spaces.

For a fee of $15, all materials and instruction are provided. Consider coming with a meaningful phrase or scripture for your art-making.

Registration is open and closes June 20.  This is a wonderful event for inviting friends and neighbors for a women’s night out.  Contact: Margaret Frothingham
