2009 Advent Devotional Guide
Posted Saturday, November 28th, 2009This year for Advent we have organized our Devotional Guide<==click to open according to the Dramatis Personae of the Advent story as a play or drama. Members of our community have each selected a character in this drama and reflected on how we are invited into this story by that character.
Feel free to use this devotional in whatever way that fits for you. Here is a suggestion of how you can use the devotional in a time of worship each day :
- Opening Prayer
- Light the appropriate candle(s) on the Advent Wreath
- Sing a favorite Advent hymn or carol
- Read the scripture lesson for the day
- Read the day’s devotion
- Sing a favorite Advent hymn or carol
- Closing Prayer
This story is our story. We did not write it or make it up. It has been given to us. Accept its invitation. Enter into it. Write your own reflections on the various characters in this drama and share them with another. It is not your story. It is not my story. It is ours!
Thanks be to God!
